With recent announcements of new COVID-19 restrictions, please be assured Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibit at America’s Center is open and continues to provide a safe, spacious and capacity controlled environment for your enjoyment.  We scan temperatures upon arrival, maintain state-of-the-art cleaning procedures, require masks for all guests and staff and ensure social distancing throughout the experience.

Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition recreates the awe and wonder of arguably one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements while allowing its visitors to experience this art from a new perspective.

With special expertise and care, the ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel have been reproduced using state of the art technology. In order for the observer to fully engage and comprehend the artwork, the paintings have been reproduced in their original sizes. The overwhelming impression for the observer will be the dimensions of the art, the closeness to the picture, and the modern style of the exhibition. As a result, the visitor can explore the artwork up close at a distance impossible to achieve in the Sistine Chapel.

Did you reproduce everything inside the Sistine Chapel?

Our exhibit focuses on Michelangelo’s contributions to the Sistine Chapel: namely the artwork from the ceiling and the Last Judgment. By bringing the artwork closer, we hope the visitor will be able to appreciate these famous masterpieces from a new perspective

Is the exhibit artwork the same size as the original in the Vatican? Has it been altered in any way?

Since the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is curved, these reproductions are as close to the original size as possible; however, our mission was never to copy the entire ceiling, so some of the bordering elements such as the Ignudi angels and other framing devices are not included. It was necessary to crop some of the images in order to fit them into the display design, but rest assured: all key images from the Chapel are included in the exhibit.

When were these photos taken?

The photographs were taken post-restoration of the ceiling; in some cases, color enhancement was necessary to match the images for consistency. If space allows, we display a pre and post Last Judgment for visitors to see the difference in terms of color, clarity, and quality.

Can I take photos inside the exhibit?

Yes, photos for personal use are permitted, but please do not use a flash. We encourage visitors to tag us @chapelsistine or use the hashtag #sistineSTL. For any professional photography or filming requests, please contact info@seeglobalentertainment.com.

Is an audio guide available for rent?

Yes, for a nominal fee, we offer an extensive audio guide that is available to listen to on your smart phone or a device that is loaned at the exhibit. It is available in English and Spanish. If you enjoy it, we recommend purchasing a souvenir guide to take home.

Do you allow strollers?

Yes, parents with strollers are always welcome.

Where is the exhibit located?

The exhibit is in the America’s Center Convention Complex. To enter the exhibit at America’s Center, guests will use the Washington Ave. entrance at 8th & Washington.

Where do I park?

Self-parking is available for $1 per 20 minutes at the US Bank Plaza Garage (714 Washington Ave. St. Louis, MO 63101) immediately across the street from the Washington Ave. entrance of America’s Center. Make sure to take your parking ticket with you, it will be required to re-enter the garage to retrieve your car.

Do I need to purchase my tickets is advance?

Yes, it is highly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance. The exhibit has a limited capacity and tickets will be timed on the hour. Walk ups may be available if capacity allows. Order your tickets today!

What if I miss the scheduled time on my ticket?

If you are late for your purchased ticket time all efforts will be made to accommodate your ticket at any day and time as exhibit capacity allows.

When is the exhibit open?

The Exhibit is open Thursday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The last timed tickets sold each day will be for 7 p.m.

What COVID-19 safety procedures will be in place?

In addition to timed ticketing to limit capacity America’s Center’s health and safety protocols will be firmly in place. These include but are not limited to: temperature screenings for guests upon entry, mandatory use of face coverings, practicing of social distancing, and rigorous sanitization of all surfaces. The America’s Center Convention Complex was recently accredited internationally as a GBAC STAR Facility for its commitment to ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
