Explore St. Louis Launches ‘In the Know’ Commercials Featuring Two-Time World Cup Champion Becky Sauerbrunn

ST. LOUIS (Oct. 1, 2019) – Explore St. Louis has launched the next phase of its award-winning ‘In the
Know’ TV campaign featuring two-time World Cup Champion and native St. Louisan, Becky Sauerbrunn.
The ads promote St. Louis as a champion sports town as Becky highlights the championship places to
explore. The campaign debuted in 2017 with a series of spots featuring Sterling K. Brown and early this
year with new creative from actor John Goodman and TV personality Andy Cohen.
“The success of the ‘In the Know’ campaign has been overwhelming; we are so thrilled to have Becky
join us as the latest St. Louis celebrity helping to tell our story to prospective visitors to our community,”
said Brian Hall, Chief Marketing Officer, Explore St. Louis. “In addition to Sterling, John, Andy, and now
Becky, we want to recognize and thank our marketing firm, H&L Partners, for their vision and hard work
to make this series come to life.”
“St. Louis is really such a sports city that shows up for its athletes,” said Sauerbrunn. “It’s got a lot of
character, the people are great, and the food is great. It’s one of those places that you visit once and
you’re sure to fall in love.”
St. Louis has a rich history of soccer starting in 1950 with the Men’s World Cup, where half the team was
made up of athletes from St. Louis. Fast forward to today; St. Louis will have a MLS team and stadium,
carrying on the tradition of St. Louis being a soccer city. Becky credits her upbringing in St. Louis for
discovering her passion for soccer at an early age. She found great influence in “Mr. Soccer” and native
St. Louisan himself, Bill McDermott.
“I’m giving to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in memory of Mary McDermott. “The work being
done at Cardinal Glennon is so important, it’s an honor to be able to donate to an organization that
gives so much to patients and their loved ones,” added Sauerbrunn.
